Flat Cable Types: Compactness and flexibility make flat cable a
leading choice for complex assemblies that must fit within confined spaces.
Lower costs per foot of cable and faster terminations with available IDC systems
are possible advantages. Selection of flat woven cable is indicated wherever
higher levels of performance are required.Flat Woven Cable: GSI flat woven
cable provides for a virtually unlimited choice of conductors, great mechanical
flexibility and a full range of high reliability termination systems. GSI
flat woven cable can be designed to incorporate special features, such as
programmed breakouts and programmed transitions from flat to round cross sections,
that are ideal for complex assemblies.
Round Cable: GSI round cable
is the perfect choice for complex assemblies where specifications designed
and built to provide features, e.g. shields and jackets, coding of components
and extra flexibility, that best enhance total system configuration and performance.Hand-Laid Harnesses: Hand-laid harnessing can be used alone or
combined with flat and /or round cable to form composite assemblies. Hand-laid
harnesses may provide the only practical alternative in situations where ready
made or specially programmed flat or round cables won't do. With contemporary
designs, production techniques and automated testing systems, hand-laid harnesses
can be cost effective. GSI harness assembly operations are extremely competitive
on complex jobs.

Conductors: Conductors are critical elements in all interconnection
systems. The performance of a harness system, its price, and many of its physical
characteristics, is dependent upon the attributes of its conductors.
An optimum design demonstrates a comprehensive knowledge of all system requirements
as well as of the conductors, other materials and manufacturing processes
that are available to satisfy those requirements. GSI processes million
of feet of different types of conductors each year. The company has
extensive state of the art equipment for processing and testing most types
of conductors.Termination Systems: GSI produces dependable high quality terminations.
Mass IDC and solder reflow methods, hand crimping, and MIL spec soldering
are routinely and expertly performed. Where termination parameters are critical,
GSI produces flat, round or point-to-point harness assemblies that best join
the various components.
Shields and Jackets: GSI applies foil or braided shields and extruded
or braided jackets to both flat and round cable. Hand-laid harnesses are given
braided shields and heat shrink or braided outer jackets. Multiple shields
and jackets are applied to meet stringent requirements and specifications.Coding of Conductors: Assembly and maintenance of complex harness
assemblies is made easier when all conductors are identified. GSI offers a
full range of wire marking methods: solid colors, stripes, and alphanumeric.
In addition, one may choose from wire and cable markers, sequential placement
of conductors in both flat and contra helically wound round cables, colored
tracers and separators between groups or layers of conductors.
Testing and Certification: GSI has UL approvals for both processed
wire and wiring harnesses. MIL-Spec harnesses either partially or fully assembled,
can be produced in large or small quantities. Inspection to MIL-45208A,
high reliability manual soldering to MIL-S-2000, calibration to MIL-STD-45662
and overall ISO 9001- all are integral to GSI's operations.
